This weekend we held our first She SUPs Social paddle at Narrabeen Lakes and boy, was it a beauty!

We hosted 14 ladies from the She SUPs community who had travelled from all over Sydney. For some, it was their first time on a SUP board, whereas for others it was another SUP adventure but with new friends.

We hired SUP boards from ProKayaks at Narrabeen Lagoon who got everyone set up, adjusting paddle height and demonstrating basic paddle technique. There was a mixture of excited and nervous faces as the first paddlers entered the water, but within just a couple of minutes, those nervous faces turned to beaming grins as everyone (including the newbies) stood up for the first time and headed off following one of our experienced paddlers Sara.

We were unbelievably lucky with the weather, with the sun shining down on us throughout the morning and hardly any wind as we set off. The group organically split into little paddle clusters as friendships were formed, and conversations shared. Everyone paddled at their own speeds, and took breaks for photos, to rest their legs or simply take in the amazing scenery.

Narrabeen Lakes is an awesome paddle location, with easy entry points, plenty of hire options, lots of nature spotting opportunities and several different paddle routes to explore.

After 90 minutes on the water, we found a sunny spot by the lake where we sat to have a coffee, some muffins and a good old chat as we refuelled and planned our future paddle adventures together.

Thank you so much, Ann, Chris, Jenny, Jess, Kat, Kristen, Marianne, Rachel, Susanne, Sara, Suzanne, Hannah and Jane for being part of the first She SUPs Social! We cannot wait to paddle with you again soon!

The next She SUPs Social will be at Rose Bay on Sunday 29th September. If you'd like to join us for this paddle or future paddles, join the She SUPs Facebook Community (click here) and follow the links to our Meet-Up event.
