SUP Rescue & Falling Lessons

Do you have a fear of falling? Are you unsure how to self-rescue or how you'd rescue a friend?
Have you learnt to SUP and focused ALL of your attention on standing and therefore never fallen off your SUP? If yes to any of the above, this session is for YOU!

ABOUT THIS LESSON

During our SUP Confidence Lessons, we find that our tried and tested techniques to support female paddlers are often so successful that many paddlers never actually fall off their SUP! This is great for a first lesson as you get comfortable with technique and finding your feet, but if you never fall off, then you start to fear falling and it becomes a much ‘bigger’ issue psychologically as you’ve never experienced it!

Our SUP Rescue and Falling Lessons are our ‘wet lessons’. We all wear swimmers and start IN the water. The purpose of the lesson is to learn how to fall safely, how to self rescue, how to rescue others and we have the opportunity to play around with pivot-turns!

We recognise knowledge brings greater confidence, so we have designed this session based on a mix of practical skill based drills and activities to empower you with a tool kit of all the essential items to become an awesome adventurous paddler.

We will cover:

  • How to fall safely

  • 2-3 different ways to self rescue

  • How to perform a single roll board rescue to help a friend

  • How to perform a double roll unconscious rescue (for an emergency situation)

  • How to do a pivot turn and impress your friends!

COST

2 Hour Lesson + BYO SUP: $90
2 Hour Lesson + SUP HIRE: $115

ABILITY LEVEL

Suitable for all abilities including those who’ve NEVER touched a SUP before and those who have had a SUP Confidence lesson with She SUPs or taught themselves to SUP and want to learn how to fall, self rescue, rescue others and pivot turn.

WEATHER

The She SUPs team will be in touch with you via SMS if the weather (in particular wind) conditions look unsafe to paddle and we will arrange to reschedule the paddle or provide a refund. Please assume we are proceeding as normal if you don't hear from us, and trust that we will never run a paddle if it's unsafe to do so. Often generalist forecasts like Apple and Google forecasts are not accurate enough for paddling, so your instructor will be analysing more in-depth weather charts to decide whether to proceed.

MEETING POINT

These sessions are held in Manly to ensure we have nice swimmable conditions. Details about meeting point and what to wear/bring are shared once you have booked in for this adventure!

CAN I BYO BOARD?

Yes! You are welcome to BYO board to these sessions but please make sure you have a leg rope and if your board is an inflatable it’s inflated to a minimum of 15 PSI.
