Every woman welcome.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Hi, I’m Vikki. I’m a British-born adventurer, experience designer, and founder of She SUPs.
She SUPs is a stand-up paddleboarding community that aims to educate and empower women (cis, trans) and gender minorities through SUP lessons, socials, workshops and trips.
Believe it or not, I was born and raised in Winchester, England and grew up surrounded by fields and countryside rather than the ocean! However in 2015, my desire to live a more adventure-filled life encouraged me to take a leap and move to Australia!
Within a few months of living in Sydney, I became hooked on paddling. First, it was kayaking, then came SUP. Being on the water gave me a sense of freedom I longed for while stuck in a toxic corporate job (thanks to my visa!) & helped me process the loneliness from being away from friends & family, as well as my personal battles with PTSD and anxiety.
Through SUP, I gained strength, learnt new skills, gained a deeper understanding of the ocean, a greater connection to Country and as cheesy as it sounds… I found my identity and my calling.
During my paddles, I really began to notice the lack of women on the waterways of Sydney and so I researched further into what barriers may be preventing women from setting off on their own SUP adventures.
I discovered that many women didn't opt in to sports like SUP as they didn't know, where to go, or who to go with. And so She SUPs was born, to solve those two problems.
We started off as a meet-up group, then moved into lessons and tours, and over the last 3 years, She SUPs has matured into a successful social enterprise and Australia’s leading female-focused SUP guiding and education business, offering women supported paddle experiences, trips and lessons in different locations so that women always have new places to explore on their SUP.
And together, as the vision and ethos of She SUPs has resonated and brought together hundreds of women from across Australia and beyond, we have cultivated the heart of She SUPs - our all-female SUP community. Which ensures no woman ever has to paddle alone if they don’t want to.
As our community and reach grows, I am so excited to see what the next couple of years hold for She SUPs. I hope that we can evolve and grow as a social enterprise, and support more women and girls, from all backgrounds and across Australia, take to the water and find empowerment, strength and wellbeing through SUP. I hope you’ll be a part of this mission!
See you on the water!
