Meet The Community: Emma

The one thing I am MOST proud of when it comes to She SUPs is the people in our community. We have the most wonderful, generous, fun-loving, and inspiring women in the She SUPs Community (and yes, that includes YOU reading this!) so I wanted to find a way to celebrate them/you.

Welcome to the first Meet The Community blog, where each week I will introduce you to our wonderful community members. I’m hoping through this process we can build a deeper and stronger community connection (even across locations), plus be inspired by each other!

This week, I would love to introduce you to the gorgeous Emma!!

1. Where are you based? Rosebery, Eastern Suburbs

2. Do you own your own board? If so, what board is it?

Yes, I own my own board. It’s an Oceana inflatable.

3. What do you do when you're not paddleboarding?

I work 4 days per week managing a Neurosurgical practice, love go on long walks with family & friends,  swimming at the beach, love spending time with my family, I have two grown kids, hubby & my dog Pepa.

4. What brought you to She SUPs/ why did you join She SUPs?

I discovered paddle boarding a couple of years ago and wanted to do it as much as possible.  None of my friends wanted to do it with me regularly so I looked at Meet-Up to see if they had any groups. I was lucky to find She SUPs.

4. Do you remember the first time you tried SUP? Tell us a little about that very first experience...

I joined a She SUPs Social in Pittwater, was super nervous and also excited.  Vikki made me feel so comfortable straight away.  She is friendly non-judgemental and caring.  It was lovely to meet many other like-minded women. I had never been to the location before and the paddle was so beautiful.

5. What is your favourite paddleboarding memory/experience/ adventure so far? (with and/or without She SUPs!)

Going on the Canberra SUP adventure weekend.  Although for me it was a little strange to go away with a bunch of people I had never met the experience was wonderful.  The women were fabulous and the paddles so beautiful.  To see the hot air balloons come down on the water was spectacular and so so special. I felt privileged to be there.

6. Where is the number one place on your SUP bucket list and why?

Cook islands because it looks so glorious,  crystal clear water,  warmth so we can swim and enjoy. Also New Zealand Zealand the scenery would be amazing.

7. If you were to describe the feeling you get when you're paddleboarding how would you describe it?

I’m home or at one! I feel so peaceful and the water’s energy is magical.

8. Has anything surprised or delighted you about being a member of the She SUPs Community?

Love being part of the community and some of my old friends have joined too. So nice to rekindle these old friendships and create new ones.

9. Where's next for you and your board? Where ever you want to take us, Vikki, I'm in.....
