Meet-Up/SUP Social Fees in 2020

Welcome back for another awesome year of paddling adventures, and a huge welcome to those who are new to She SUPs and the She SUPs Community. I’m so excited for you to join us!

Today I have just announced our next She SUPs Social paddle which is a 2 hour SUP adventure in Bundeena on Monday 27th January. This is going to be an awesome opportunity to paddle somewhere new for many of you and to explore an area of outstanding natural beauty by SUP.

With this announcement, you may have noticed that the Meet-Up/She SUPs Social fee has increased for 2020 so I thought I would explain why.

When I set up She SUPs Socials in August 2019 they were always designed to be social/community-based paddles focused on;

providing regular opportunities (every month) for more women to get on the water, gain new skills, explore new areas, connect with other women, get closer to nature and feel empowered through paddle boarding adventures.

Many of you have shared with me over the past few months how much you have benefitted from the community and these paddles. I have witnessed many of you build new friendships, find your courage, learn to SUP confidently with no prior experience, increase fitness and gain confidence from pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. I can’t find the words to express how much of an honour it has been to witness these journeys, and I hope it may continue into 2020 and beyond! You all inspire me so much!!

Over the Christmas break, I was thinking of all of you and your individual stories and started thinking about how we could bring these kinds of opportunities to more women who are perhaps in more vulnerable situations. Therefore this month I have approached a number of charitable organisations such as Women’s Shelters and organisations that support young women with disabilities to offer free SUP sessions for the women they support. The response has been amazing and I can’t wait to share more details about working with these incredible organisations soon.

In order to do this, I have therefore added a little extra onto the standard meet-up/SUP Social fee and I hope you will understand. I will continue to volunteer my time as a facilitator. guide and SUP instructor at She SUPs Social paddles for free, therefore the Meet-Up/Social fee of $15 will cover the following;

  • ~$5 to cover the Meet-Up Fees that I have to pay to run the group on the platform MeetUp.com

  • ~$5 to cover the average of 3-4 hours of admin that I do for each paddle which involves finding a location with a SUP business to partner with, negotiating a good rental deal with that partner, answering your questions, hopes/fears and chasing up for attendance and booking confirmations so that we can get as many women along as possible.

  • ~$5 to contribute to She SUPs providing free SUP lessons for women and their children being supported by local women’s shelters and free SUP opportunities for 16-35-year-olds with mild to moderate disabilities and mental health conditions (more details coming soon about which organisations we are working with on this).

As always, this $15 “fee” is seen as a ‘contribution’ to support the mission of She SUPs and I would hate to put any of my regulars in an uncomfortable situation. If you struggle to contribute this for a She SUPs Social that you wish to attend, please get in touch before you book into the paddle.

I hope you understand and respect the reason for the slight price increase, and I hope you are as excited as I am that we can spread the She SUPs mission and impact, to women in more vulnerable situations. I’m so proud to have cultivated a community that can provide these kinds of opportunities for others so a huge thank you for your role in this. We wouldn’t be here without your support.

I hope to see as many of you as possible on 27th January!
